World Water Day
March 22 is World Water Day, and to mark this day, Council of Canadians chapters and allies are organizing activities across the country to promote water as a public resource and a human right.
This year, we are celebrating a decade of community action against water privatization through the Water Watch Coalition, which was launched in 1998 by the Council of Canadians, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and the Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA).
To mark World Water Day, the Council of Canadians and CUPE are launching a new initiative called “The Blue Communities Project.” Through the Blue Communities Project we will provide community leaders and activists the tools to resist public-private partnerships, promote water as human right at the local level, and ban bottled water in public spaces.......... http://www.canadians.org/water/issues/World_Water_Day/
